Iowa Composers Forum

ICF Fall Concert Series (June 1, 2018)

The Iowa Composers Forum is excited to announce our fall new-music project: a three-concert series October 4-7 featuring solo works by ICF members. Half of the program will be devoted to portions of ICF member James Romig’s solo piano work, “Still,” performed by Ashlee Mack. The other half of the program will feature solo works submitted through this call for scores. Performances will be Thursday, October 4 (7:30 pm) at the Porter House Museum in Decorah; Saturday, October 6 (5 pm) at the Cedar Rock House in Quasqueton; and Sunday, October 7 (3 pm) at the Montauk Historic Site in Clermont.

We welcome submissions from ICF members:

  • –  Works for solo instrument
  • –  Preference for works not performed on previous ICF concerts
  • –  Preference for works which have a visual inspiration or genesis (though this is not

    essential)

  • –  Works may or may not have a performance history
  • –  Maximum of two submissions per composer

All submissions should be made electronically via e-mail to wbjoyce3@gmail.com. Include in your e-mail:

  • –  a brief note, describing your submission(s)
  • –  the score(s) of your piece(s) as .pdf files
  • –  a current bio (75 words or less), attached as a .doc or .pdf file
  • –  program notes for your submission(s), 75 words or less, attached as a .doc or .pdf file
  • –  optional: attachments of mp3 recordings of submitted works, no larger than 10MB, or

    links to these files

If selected for performance:

  • –  composers must be in good standing with the ICF for 2018-19 (renewals due by June 30)
  • –  The ICF will contract with an instrumentalist to perform your work; we will be happy to consider a particular local performer if you have one in mind
  • –  final scores of all works must be submitted to the performer by August 15
  • –  composers must pledge to attend at least one of the concerts.
  • –  composers are highly encouraged to arrange a time to coach their music with the

    performer prior to the performance.

Deadline for submissions is June 1, 2018. Selected composers will be notified by July 1. Any questions? Contact Brooke.
