The ICF’s annual fall festival will be held from October 8-10 at Clarke College in Dubuque, IA. This year’s festival marks a team effort between the ICF and Society of Composers (SCI). Together, these two organizations will present over eighty works on eleven separate concerts. Nineteen ICF composers will receive twenty-four performances at the three-day event.
In a departure from recent festivals, the event will feature many chamber works for larger ensembles, including several quartets, quintets and sextets. Featured performers and performing organizations include the University of Iowa’s Center for New Music, the Maia String Quartet, the flute and percussion ensemble Due East, the Clarke College choir, the Butler New Music Ensemble, and flautist Lisa Bost-Sandberg.

The festival will come to a rousing start on Thursday the 8th at 2 pm as the Maia quartet performs three quartets by ICF members. Another highlight will involve the CNM’s performance of six ICF member works at 7:30 on Friday evening. Violinist Katie Wolfe and ‘Cellist Carey Bostian will team up to perform three ICF member works on the concert finale at 8 pm on Saturday evening.

It has been a tradition to include premieres of ICF commissions during festival concerts, and this festival will be no exception. Jerry Casey’s Out of the Depths for solo piano will be premiered at the 4 pm concert on Friday. Jerry won the 2008 Etzel Piano Commission.
